The Cowboys went outside the organization to find some help for their depleted defensive line.
The team announced it had completed a trade that landed them defensive end Lavar Edwards from the Tennessee Titans for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2015.
Edwards, a fifth-round pick out of LSU in 2013, played in seven games for the Titans last season, starting one. His career stats include nine tackles and one pass defended.
In his college career, Edwards had 96 tackles, 10 1/2 sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
The Cowboys need as much depth in the defensive line as possible.
Anthony Spencer is expected to make the 53-man roster, but won’t be healthy enough to play until Week 2 at the earliest. Rookie DeMarcus Lawrence has also been lost for at least the early part of the season after he fractured his a bone in his right foot early in training camp.
