Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant has all the admiration in the world for quarterback Tony Romo. It seemingly continues to grow with every game.

While Romo magniminously said the coaches asked him to come back in the game on the final drive of the first half Saturday night against the Dolphins, Bryant said Romo fought to stay in the game.

Bryant, himself, was taken out of the game out of precaution and to let some other receivers play. Running back DeMarco Murray had also already taken a seat for the night. But Romo, who has been handled with care throughout training camp and the preseason because of his back, stayed in the game for a final two minute drive with backup running back Lance Dunbar and rookie receiver Devin Street among others.

“He is a true competitor,” Bryant said. “That is what a lot of people don’t know. He wants it man. He wants to be in. He fought to stay on the final drive that I came out. I was hot and pissed . We only had three points up there.”

While Bryant was disappointed about the lack of points from the offense on Saturday night, he says everything will be OK in Dallas because of the example Romo showed Saturday night and always.

“It’s still preseason, some how some way they let him go in,” Bryant said. “That’s what I’m talking about.. The dog and the hunger. When he does it it makes everybody wants to do it. That’s how a team becomes explosive and unstoppable.”
