What are Tony Romo’s plans for Miami game?

Tony Romo had only positive reviews following his first game action in about eight months on Saturday.

Receiver Dez Bryant said Romo was “ballin’” on the field. Coach Jason Garrett agreed, as well as owner and general manager Jerry Jones who said he’s “convinced” Romo is back to being his old self.

It was a promising outing for Romo, who played for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back last December. He played 16 snaps (two nullified), completing 4-of-5 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Now, the question becomes how many more preseason snaps does Romo need to get ready for the season opener Sept. 7 against San Francisco?

Romo wouldn’t reveal a target number for next week’s “dress rehearsal” against the Dolphins in Miami, but said it is important that he plays at least one road game before the regular season opener.

“It’s very important,” Romo said. “You’re kidding yourself as players if you think you can just show up in Game 1 of the regular season if you haven’t played in the preseason. You’re doing the game an injustice. It’s a very fast, physical game that you need to be out there doing to get better.”
