Tony Romo made his preseason debut, and it was much ado about something. Romo played only two series against the Ravens, but he looked a lot like himself Saturday night.

“I thought he looked comfortable,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. “I thought he looked like himself and moved around in the pocket. He made some good throws that looked like he saw the field well. He felt the pocket really well and looked comfortable moving the team.”

Romo moved around comfortably in his 14 plays – minus two plays negated by penalties – completing 4 of 5 passes for 80 yards with a touchdown to Dez Bryant.

“It felt good,” Romo said. “I thought it was great to get out there and help the football team and go through the checks and balances you have to do to get your team in a position to compete.”

Romo sat out every third practice during training camp as he continues to rehab from surgery on a herniated disk last December. He also skipped the preseason opener last week against the Chargers.

“He looked good,” Bryant said. “His mind was right. He was poised and went out there, knew what he wanted to do and did it. He wanted to show the world he is ‘9’, and he’s a baller.”

Romo lost a fumble on an exchange with running back DeMarco Murray to end a promising first drive. Courtney Upshaw picked up the loose ball and returned it 26 yards for a defensive touchdown.

“We have to look at it,” Romo said. “We have to find it on the tape. That’s stuff that can’t happen, obviously, but we will get that corrected.”

The second drive was flawless as the Cowboys moved 83 yards in nine plays, with Bryant catching a 31-yard touchdown pass from Romo while in one-on-one coverage with cornerback Dominique Franks.

“Some things came up that were a little different we hadn’t seen.” Romo said. “We were able to communicate and be on the same page and the receivers, me, the linemen. It just shows we are doing some going things and are further along than you might usually be this early. That’s a positive.”
