The Dallas Cowboys are taking a cautious approach with how much work they’re giving cornerback Brandon Carr and he is not expected to play in the Cowboys-Ravens game on Saturday at AT&T Stadium.
Carr has yet to practice in pads since joining the team Saturday and will not participate in today’s or Wednesday’s padded practices against the Raiders.
Carr has been going through the morning walkthroughs and is in good shape. However, he is still behind most of his teammates as he missed the first two weeks of camp to be with his ailing mother.
“The biggest thing with Brandon is we’re just being very mindful of what he’s been doing the last couple of weeks,” coach Jason Garrett said. “We’ve taken a slower approach with him. We want to be careful about putting him into a competitive situation too quickly.”
Garrett said there is plenty of time, including two more preseason games, for Carr to get enough work in and that missing Saturday’s game shouldn’t be viewed as a setback.
