Tony Romo is getting consecutive days off.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback didn’t particpate in Saturday morning’s walkthrough and won’t practice in the afternoon session, coach Jason Garrett said. The Cowboys were off Friday, given Romo extra rest.
Romo is coming off surgery to repair a herniated disk last December, his second back operation in the past year. He has been limited early on in camp despite club officials saying he is 100 percent.
Garrett said they will emphasize short-yardage and goal-line situations today and that Romo is expected to participate in Sunday’s practice.
In other news:• Cornerback Morris Claiborne also did not participate in the walkthrough and will be off this afternoon.
• Offensive lineman Darrion Weems has a shoulder injury and is expected to miss at least a week.
• Defensive ends Kenneth Boatwright and Adewale Ojomo went through their first walkthrough with the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday morning. Both worked out and signed with the team Friday. To clear spots, the Cowboys released wide receiver L’Damian Washington and offensive lineman Darius Morris.
