Dallas Cowboys fans won’t have to wait all day to see their team play on Sunday night this season.
At least not musically.
NBC’s Sunday Night Football will have a new opening theme song this season.
Recording artist Carrie Underwood’s new theme song, “Oh, Sunday Night,” is a mix of country, rock and pop.
Never miss a local story.
“Oh, Sunday Night” is set to the music of “Somethin’ Bad,” a chart-topping duet from Underwood and Miranda Lambert which was released in 2014 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
NBC’s first Sunday night telecast this season is Sept. 11 when New England plays at Arizona.
Underwood worked with the songwriters of “Somethin’ Bad”– Chris DeStefano, Brett James, and Priscilla Renea - to rewrite the lyrics for Sunday Night Football. The new song was produced by Mark Bright and Chris DeStefano.
“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the SNF theme song from 2006-15, was set to Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
Underwood is in her fourth season performing the SNF open for NBC.
Last season, Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was one of 11 players featured in NBC’s musical intro.
The Cowboys have three scheduled Sunday night games.
The team’s Sunday night games are Sept. 25 at home against Chicago, Oct. 30 at home against Philadelphia and Dec. 11 at the New York Giants.
