The Dallas Cowboys already knew who they played. Now, they know when. The 2014 schedule, released Wednesday, features five night games for the Cowboys, three on the road. The Cowboys have six games against playoff teams from 2013, including two games against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. Only four of Dallas’ opponents finished with fewer than seven victories last season, and their opponents have a combined record of 125-131. The Cowboys open at home for the second consecutive year, but close on the road for the sixth time in eight years. Dallas doesn’t play its first division game until Oct. 19. It won’t be easy as the Cowboys attempt to end their streak of three consecutive .500 seasons with a return to the postseason.
vs. San Francisco
The Cowboys have a three-game winning streak over the 49ers, but San Francisco looks like a Super Bowl contender. The good news for the Cowboys is they open at home for the second consecutive season. Prediction: Loss
The Cowboys have played in Tennessee only twice previously, losing to the Titans 31-0 in 2000 and beating the Titans 45-14 in 2006. Prediction: Win
@ St. Louis
The Cowboys play back-to-back road games twice this season. This marks the second consecutive season Dallas has played St. Louis in Week 3. Prediction: Win
vs. New Orleans
This marks the fifth time in six years these two teams have met. The Saints have won the past three, including a 49-17 whipping of the Cowboys in New Orleans last year. Prediction: Loss
The Texans have played the Cowboys on the road only once in their history. They lost to the Cowboys 34-6 at Texas Stadium in 2006. Thus, this marks their first visit to AT&T Stadium. Prediction: Win
The defending Super Bowl champions surprised the Cowboys 27-20 in Week 2 of the 2012 season. It won’t be a surprise if the Seahawks win this time. Prediction: Loss
vs. NY Giants
The Giants owned AT&T Stadium until last year when the Cowboys won the season opener 36-31. Prediction: Win
Monday Night Football returns to AT&T Stadium after a one-year hiatus. It marks the 76th appearance on MNF for the Cowboys, second-most in NFL history behind Miami’s 80. Dallas has won a record 43 MNF games. Prediction: Loss
The Cardinals, no matter how bad, have had the Cowboys’ number the past few meetings. The Cardinals have a three-game winning streak against Dallas, although all three meetings were in Arizona.
The Cowboys will play a regular-season game on foreign soil for the first time. The Jaguars are one of only six teams with a winning series record against the Cowboys, having won the last two for a 3-2 lead. Prediction: Win
@ New York Giants
After a bye, the Cowboys play the Giants. It is the second meeting between the two in six weeks. Prediction: Win
The Eagles play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day for the first time since 1989. Dallas has won six of its last eight played on Thanksgiving, but coming off a night game on the road the previous Sunday makes this one more difficult. Prediction: Loss
For the first time since 2007, the Cowboys play a Thursday night game following the Thanksgiving game. Prediction: Loss
The good news is: The Cowboys get a 10-day break before playing the Eagles. The bad news is: It’s their second game with the Eagles in three weeks. Prediction: Loss
Andrew Luck and the Colts have their arrow pointed up. They could be contenders this season. Prediction: Loss
This marks the second time in three years the Cowboys will close at Washington. Will it be the fourth consecutive year that Dallas ends with a win-or-go-home game?
