Except for Brandon Carr, the Cowboys’ cornerbacks give up height to the Bears’ receivers. Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall make plays on the ball in the air, and quarterback Josh McCown is giving them a chance to go high for the ball.
The Cowboys have 26 sacks, which is OK. But half of them came in the first three games. George Selvie has been shut out the past three games. DeMarcus Ware had none in the past two games. Jason Hatcher had two against the New York Giants, but no one had a sack against Oakland.
Dez Bryant has fumbled in each of the past two games. He said last week he has to stop thinking so much about exactly the right technique and protecting the ball and instead start playing like himself. He is looking for the right blend of being relaxed and being sure with the ball.
Pro Bowl Tyron
Coach Jason Garrett said there’s no question in his mind left tackle Tyron Smith is playing at a Pro Bowl level. This is another chance to add to Smith’s résumé. He is in charge of keeping Julius Peppers away from the quarterback. Peppers leads the Bears with 6.5 sacks.
Hot red zone
The Cowboys are having one of their best seasons ever in the red zone, converting possessions inside the 20 into touchdowns 67.6 percent of the time. Last week, it was 80 percent (four of five). It hasn’t been less than 50 percent in any game this year.
