Talk about going to the extreme.
Eric Welborn, a 46-year-old Dallas Cowboys fan from Elkin, N.C., dressed as a fully uniformed Jason Witten for Thursday’s Hall of Fame game. Welborn generated plenty of pregame buzz.
Quarterback Dak Prescott spotted Welborn above the Cowboys’ tunnel to the field and tossed him a pass. Witten even recognized him and gave him an autograph.
“My dad was a Cowboys fan since they started in 1960,” said Welborn, who attended the game with his daughter. “I was just raised a Cowboy fan. Back growing up, it was either the Redskins or the Cowboys. There wasn’t the Panthers.”
Welborn is happy he didn’t drop a perfect pass from Prescott.
As he put it, “Hey, I’m one for one. I’m batting 1.000.”
Temperatures were in the low 80s and high 70s for much of the day in Ohio, but Welborn had no regrets going with the full-on uniform.
“I’ve had it on all day,” Welborn said, smiling. “I’ve changed underwear twice.”
