Boxing is coming to The Star in Frisco on June 17.
And it will be outdoors. The Ford Center’s outdoor video board will also be in play.
Pablo “El Demoledor” Cesar Cano (30-5-1, 21 KOs) and Fidel “The Atrisco Kid” Maldonado Jr. (23-3-1, 19 KOs) will fight for the vacant WBC Fecarbox super lightweight title in a 10-round main event at the Tostitos Championship Plaza at The Star in Frisco.
The Cano vs. Maldonado Jr., fight is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. ESPN 2 and ESPN Deportes will broadcast the event at 9 p.m. Fecarbox is the Central American and Caribbean Boxing Federation.
Tickets for Fight Night at The Star are on sale and priced at $90, $50, and $20, not including applicable service charges.
Additionally, walk up purchases are available at the AT&T Stadium Box Office (Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or on the day of the event at the Ford Center Box Office beginning at 3 p.m.
Cano, a 27-year-old former interim WBA world super lightweight champion, is coming off a win over Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera. Cano is an 11-year pro from Atizapan de Zaragoza, Mexico.
Maldonado, a 25-year-old southpaw out of Albuquerque, N.M., is unbeaten in his past five fights, including a five-knockdown tilt with Amir Imam.
On the all-Texas co-main event, Joshua “The Professor” Franco (10-0, 5 KOs) of San Antonio faces off against Oscar Mojica (10-2, 1 KO) of Dallas for the WBC youth silver flyweight title.
At least three other fights are scheduled for the card, including super lightweight prospect Vergil Ortiz Jr. (5-0, 5 KOs).
