The Big Game
NY Jets (4-1) at
N. England (5-0)
Never miss a local story.
Line: Pats by 7 1/2
Only matchup of winning teams. No. 1 defense in yards (269.2) and points (75) has Jets with best start since 2010. Outscored foes 34-0 in third quarters. Pats QB Tom Brady’s numbers vs. Colts weren’t what his dad wished aloud for – 500 yards, 8 TDs – but Brady is 20-6 vs. Jets.
Best of the rest
Philadelphia (3-3) at Carolina (5-0)
7:25 p.m., KXAS/5
Line: Panthers by 3
Eagles’ revived defense made Giants’ Eli Manning look dumbfounded, limiting him to 27 yards passing in second half. RB DeMarco Murray’s 109 yards nearly matched his season total (130). Panthers seek their first 6-0 start. QB Cam Newton led four 80-yard scoring drives to win in Seattle.
New Orleans (2-4) at Indianapolis (3-3)
Line: Colts by 4
Rematch of Super Bowl 44, without the excitement. Colts still smarting from dummy formation that cost them against Patriots. Indy is 0-3 outside AFC South. Saints showed promise bumping off unbeaten Falcons at home but have been outscored 97-58 in three road losses.
Pittsburgh (4-2) at Kansas City (1-5)
Line: Chiefs by 2 1/2
Third-string QB Landry Jones’ first regular-season appearance resulted in scores on all four possessions, giving Steeler fans first-ever reason to cheer a Landry. Chiefs’ longest run vs. Vikes was 9 yards. Result was fifth loss in a row. KC is 9-20 all-time vs. Steelers.
Worth a look
Minnesota (3-2) at Detroit (1-5)
Line: Vikings by 1
Vikes beat Lions 26-16 at home in Week 2 behind Adrian Peterson’s season-high 134 rush yards. Only 2-8 on road under coach Mike Zimmer. Lions QB Matthew Stafford responded to previous week’s benching with 405 yards passing and 4 TDs, both season highs. 18 turnovers lead NFL.
Atlanta (5-1) at Tennessee (1-4)
Line: Falcons by 6
Falcons’ second-best start ever trashed in New Orleans, leaving Atlanta second in NFC South. Titans’ fourth straight loss was ugly, allowing a TD on Statue of Liberty play and making Miami’s defense look like ’85 Bears. Have trailed 21-0 to Browns, 14-0 to Colts and 17-3 to ’Fins.
Tampa Bay (2-3) at Washington (2-4)
Line: Skins by 3
Bucs enjoyed bye after first home win since Dec. 2013. Only three picks, but that could change. Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has two INTs in all four losses, no picks in two wins. Have led at halftime in all but one game, but outscored 46-3 in third period, worst of any team in any quarter.

Cleveland (2-4) at St. Louis (2-3)
Line: Rams by 6 1/2
In three road starts, Browns QB Josh McCown is 73 for 100, 862 yards, four TDs, no picks. Rams off bye expect better from QB Nick Foles, who has passed for more than 200 yards once and more than a single TD once. RB Todd Gurley ran for 146 and 159 past two games, but no TDs.
Houston (2-4) at Miami (2-3)
Line: Miami by 4 1/2
Texans 7-0 all-time vs. Dolphins. WR DeAndre Hopkins is on pace for 1,900 receiving yards despite QB carousel. Coaching change in South Beach resulted in season-high points (38), first two rush TDs, plus increases in sacks (from 1 to 7) and forced turnovers (from 3 to 7).
Oakland (2-3) at San Diego (2-4)
Line: Chargers by 3 1/2
Raiders lost two straight late and have second-to-last pass defense (299.2). Chargers QB Philip Rivers’ career day in completions (43), attempts (65) and yards (503) ended in a loss on the final play, for second week in a row. SD’s only division wins last year were against Oakland.
Bye weeks for Chicago,
Cincinnati, Denver, Green Bay
