The Dallas Mavericks signed forward Eric Griffin to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract on Friday.
The 6-foot-8, 194-pound Griffin played this past season in Venezuela and Puerto Rico, and also played seven preseason games for the Miami Heat.
Griffin was one of the stars on the Mavs’ summer league team, scoring 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting, blocking three shots and grabbing three rebounds in Friday’s 88-62 win over Phoenix in Las Vegas, completing a 10-day stay that saw the Mavs go 3-2.
The Mavs still have their $2.73 million exception and veteran’s minimum slot available to sign free agents. They remain interested in guards Mo Williams, Jameer Nelson, Evan Turner and Jordan Crawford.
