Almost 200,000 Metroplex households tuned in to the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars on Wednesday night.
With a 50-win season and an improved playoff seeding on the line, the Mavericks’ game against Memphis on KTXA/Ch. 21 had a 3.6 rating and was watched by an estimated 143,000 viewers. A ratings point is the percentage of total Metroplex viewers.
Memphis won in overtime 106-105.
The Rangers had a 2.9 rating with 104,000 viewers on cable channel Fox Sports Southwest Plus. The game featured Rangers pitching ace Yu Darvish against Seattle’s 2010 Cy Young winner Felix Hernandez. The Rangers rallied in the ninth for a 3-2 win.
In an NHL playoff game that started two hours later, the Stars garnered a 1.0 rating with 35,000 fans tuned in on Fox Sports Southwest. Anaheim won 4-3.
The Stars and Mavericks are both No. 8 playoff seeds, so the odds are long for too many more DVR dilemmas.
Wednesday is the next time all three teams play on the same day, but first pitch is hours ahead of tip-off and puck drop.
The Rangers have a 2:35 p.m. game at Oakland, but the Mavericks and Stars do start at 7 p.m.
