About the Mavericks: They have not had a losing streak longer than two games this season. They’ve been faced with that predicament seven previous times and halted the skid with a victory. Now they’re faced with it again. ... The Mavericks lost two games to the Nuggets in a three-day span in November, once in Denver and once in Dallas. ... The Mavs are 17-15 on the road and have won six of their past eight away from American Airlines Center. ... After Wednesday’s game the Mavs play two extremely tough teams at home — Portland on Friday and Indiana on Sunday.
About the Nuggets: Denver has collapsed while dropping 11 of its last 12 games, including the past six. ... The Nuggets welcomed the return of point guard Ty Lawson on Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was Lawson’s first game since he broke a rib Feb. 8 against Detroit. Lawson responded with a season-high 31 points on 11-of-16 field goals, and 11 assists and four steals. ... ... The Nuggets are only 14-16 at home and are 11th in the NBA in scoring (102.6 ppg) and fifth in rebounds (45.4 rpg). But Denver ranks 28th in points allowed at 105.1 ppg. — Dwain Price
