The Mavs won the first two games against Philadelphia (124-112) and Detroit (113-102). … In Saturday’s win over the Pistons, the Mavs had three players record double-doubles in the same game for the first time this season. … The 35 points the Mavs scored in the second quarter against the Pistons were the most they’ve scored in the second quarter against any opponent all season. … Dirk Nowitzki is 18-for-31 from the field with 49 points in 58 minutes in the last two games, including converting 7 of 14 shots from 3-point territory. … The Mavs are 19-5 in their last 24 games against the Knicks.

About the Knicks: The Knicks are about to run out of time as far as making the playoffs are concerned. New York is in 11th place out East and, entering Sunday, was 5 1/2 games back of eighth-place Brooklyn. … The slumping Knicks have lost eight of their past 10 games. … In Saturday’s loss to Atlanta, Carmelo Anthony poured in 35 points, and Tyson Chandler added 10 points and a season-high 23 rebounds. … The inconsistent Knicks are just 12-18 at home and 6-15 against the West.
