About the Mavs: Dallas has struggled mightily while going 0-2 entering the finale of a three-game homestand. The Mavericks lost to the Clippers (119-112) on Friday and to the Knicks (92-80) on Sunday. ... The Mavs have dropped four consecutive home games and look out of sync at American Airlines Center. ... Dirk Nowitzki needs one steal to join Derek Harper as the only Mavs player to reach 1,000 for a career. ... Shawn Marion didn’t go through contact drills at Monday’s practice after spraining an ankle and hurting his Achilles’ early in Sunday’s loss to the Knicks. .... Center Samuel Dalembert did not play against the Knicks because he was late for Saturday’s practice.

About the Lakers: Without Kobe Bryant, the Lakers have been slip-sliding down the standings. Bryant has played in only six games this season due to Achilles’ and knee injuries. ... The Lakers have lost seven of their last eight games. The only win came Friday when Paul Gasol contributed 23 points and 17 rebounds as the Lakers snapped a six-game losing skid with a 110-99 victory over Utah. .... Guard Kendall Marshall also was a spark against the Jazz when he scored 20 points and handed out 15 assists in his first game since being recalled from the D-League.
