HOUSTON – Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle went on the defense and swatted away any questions pertaining to a scathing article in Grantland where owner Mark Cuban said some inflammatory remarks about the Houston Rockets.
"There’s no more predictable team than the Rockets,’’ Cuban told Grantland. "You know exactly what they’re gonna do.
"But James Harden is so good. That’s what analytics have begot. Right? Predictability.’’
In the article, Cuban went on to say: "If you know what the percentages are, in the playoffs, you have time to counter them. Whether you’re good enough to do it is another question.
Never miss a local story.
"Because they are very talented, and James Harden, I think, is the MVP. Because that’s not a very good team over there."
When asked about the article following Saturday morning’s shootaround at the Toyota Center, Carlisle bluntly said: "I didn’t read the article, so I can’t comment on it. I don’t know the context of it.
"I know that there is a game that’s going to break out here in a few hours. The series will be decided between the lines.’’
The Mavs play Game 1 of their best-of-seven first-round playoff series against the Rockets tonight at 8:30 at the Toyota Center.
