SALT LAKE CITY – With Chandler Parsons missing his fifth straight game tonight when Dallas plays the Utah Jazz at Energy Solutions Arenas, the Mavericks are concerned if the small forward will be fully healthy once the playoffs starts this weekend.
The Mavs were hoping Parsons would be able to play against the Jazz. Now they don’t even know if he’ll be able to play in the regular season finale Wednesday at home against Portland.
"We’re going day-to-day with it,’’ coach Rick Carlisle said prior to the game against Utah. "Things have gotten gradually better and we’ll just keep looking at it.
"Am I concerned? Yeah, I’m concerned.’’
Never miss a local story.
Parsons developed swelling in his right knee following a hard fall against the Indiana Pacers back on Mar. 29. While the swelling has gone down, there’s still some pain and discomfort which has kept the four-year veteran on the sidelines.
And he’s been out longer than anyone expected.
"I didn’t want to go into the playoffs missing six straight (games),’’ Parsons said. "I wanted to play tonight and I want to play Wednesday against Portland just to get back into it and play in a game before the playoffs.
"But I’ve been in the playoffs before, I’ve played a lot of games before. If I have to sit out again Wednesday again just to be able to play game, I’ll do that.’’
