The Rangers scored runs in four of the first five innings to pull away from the Mariners Saturday for a 10-4 win. Texas had 14 hits, including four for extra bases. Elvis Andrus and Nomar Mazara each homered.
Pitching: Martin Perez allowed single runs in the second, third and fourth innings and left with a 9-3 lead after the sixth. Perez allowed nine hits, including Nelson Cruz’s solo homer in the third. Perez improved to 4-4 with the win.
Cesar Ramos allowed a run on two hits in two innings of relief and Tom Wihelmsen pitched a scoreless ninth.
Hitting: Texas scored three times in the first on four hits, including a lead-off double by Jurickson Profar and a two-run double by Ryan Rua. Rougned Odor singled on a bloop to left field to score Profar to make it 1-0. It was Odor’s first at-bat since serving a seven-game suspension. The Rangers added runs in the second and third innings to take a 5-2 lead. Elvis Andrus walked and scored on Ian Desmond’s single in the second. Andrus doubled with two outs and scored on Bryan Holaday’s single through the left side. Andrus’ three-run homer in the fifth capped a four-run inning that pushed the lead to 9-3.
