Rangers purchase contract of RHP Phil Klein

The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Phil Klein from Triple A Round Rock and designated left-handed pitcher Ryan Feierabend for assignment.

Klein, 25, is 3-0 with a 0.52 ERA and 10 saves in 33 relief appearances with Double A Frisco and Round Rock. He was promoted to Round Rock on June 25 and appeared in 9 games, throwing 18 1/3 scoreless innings with 28 strikeouts.

Also, catcher Geovany Soto will begin an injury rehabilitation assignment Friday night for Round Rock against Oklahoma City. He went on the 15-day disabled list on July 22 after suffering a right groin strain July 21 while running the bases. He had appeared in three after being activated from a season-long disabled list stint on July 17 following right knee surgery.
