The latest news and notes about the Texas Rangers

It seemed a strange scene on Friday afternoon watching Texas manager Ron Washington working on infield drills with outfielder Daniel Robertson.

Turns out it’s a regular routine.

Robertson has been working there off and on since being acquired by the Rangers in April. He made his major-league debut at second base.

Though Washington said Robertson likely won't ever get a start there, he “wouldn’t hesitate to put him out there” if a game situation called for it.

“Whatever your manager asks you to do, you do it,” Robertson said. “It’s my job to be ready.”
