Four games into his MLB career, Texas Rangers’ outfielder Jake Smolinski has already set a franchise record: eight hits in his first four games.
He didn’t put any expectations on himself when he made his debut, he said.
“I told myself I just wanted to have fun and play the game hard and whatever happens happens,” Smolinski said.
When he’s up to bat, it’s his mentality that has him ready to go. So far in his four games, he’s hitting .571. Three of his eight hits are doubles.
“I feel like (I’m) ready to compete every at bat, and I feel like I’m ready to hit every pitch,” Smolinski said.
