Right-hander Yu Darvish will get an extra day’s rest before his next start, though the Rangers plan to keep him on a five-day scheduled for the following start.
Darvish, who tossed the first complete game of his career Wednesday, is scheduled to start Tuesday at Oakland and again June 22 at Anaheim. The Rangers could push Darvish back to June 24 if he has a heavy workload against his nemesis A’s.
The Rangers are playing it safe after with Darvish, who twice has dealt with neck stiffness since March, after his complete-game shutout.
“I think he’s holding up well,” manager Ron Washington said. “He really hasn’t extended himself. I didn’t think he extended himself the other night.”
