MINNEAPOLIS Shin-Soo Choo gets another day to manage his sore left ankle as the Rangers’ designated hitter in the opener of a four-game series at Target Field. It’s the second straight game Choo has been the DH after leaving Saturday’s rout of Detroit in the sixth inning.
“Base running is the worst,” said Choo, who doesn’t want to deal with the ankle much longer. “I hope not the rest of the year, but probably not one day or two days.”
Michael Choice replaced Choo in left field even though he is in a 4-for-37 skid. But he homered Sunday against Justin Verlander and had hits in three of the four games in Detroit.
Rangers lineup vs. RHP Kevin Correia: Shin-Soo Choo, dh; Elvis Andrus, ss; Mitch Moreland, 1b; Adrian Beltre, 3b; Alex Rios, rf; Chris Gimenez, c; Leonys Martin, cf; Michael Choice, lf; Rougned Odor, 2b.
Twins lineup vs. RHP Nick Tepesch: Brian Dozier, 2b; Joe Mauer, 1b; Trevor Plouffe, 3b; Oswaldo Arcia, rf; Josh Willingham, lf; Jason Kubel, dh; Kurt Suzuki, c; Aaron Hicks, cf; Eduardo Escobar, ss.
