DETROIT The lineup drawn up manager Ron Washington could be the new normal against right-handed pitchers in light of the upcoming season-ending surgery facing Prince Fielder and the rehab redo ahead for Jurickson Profar.
Leonys Martin is in the leadoff spot and former leadoff man Shin-Soo Choo is batting third against Tigers righty Anibal Sanchez. Mitch Moreland is the first baseman, Michael Choice is the DH, and Rougned Odor is at second base.
That position could be in flux with the return of Donnie Murphy from the disabed list and the need to give Luis Sardinas at-bats, as long as he remains in the big-leagues. Chris Gimenez will spell Chirinos behind the plate until Geovany Soto can return in July.
Rangers lineup vs. RHP Anibal Sanchez: Leonys Martin, cf; Elvis Andrus, ss; Shin-Soo Choo, lf; Adrian Beltre, 3b; Alex Rios, rf; Mitch Moreland, 1b; Michael Choice, dh; Robinson Chirinos, c; Rougned Odor, 2b.
Tigers lineup vs. RHP Scott Baker: Rajai Davis, lf; Ian Kinsler, 2b; Miguel Cabrera, 1b; Victor Martinez, dh; Torii Hunter, rf; Austin Jackson, cf; Alex Avila, c; Nick Castellanos, 3b; Andrew Romine, ss.
