The Texas Rangers offense had been in a funk going into Thursday.

They had batted .233 over their past nine games and were 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position the previous three games against the Colorado Rockies.

A change was needed, so they put a twist in their walk-up music. The person behind the idea remained unidentified, but nobody was complaining afterwards. Not even shortstop Elvis Andrus, who walked up to Foreigner’s “Cold as Ice” and Aqua’s “Barbie Girl.”

“It wasn’t my idea, but I really enjoyed it,” said Andrus, who went 1 for 3 with a walk.

“[Barbie Girl] is from my years. I can remember that one.”

The Rangers wound up winning 5-0 and were backed by a terrific night by the pitching staff. But the offense also refound its stroke with Prince Fielder hitting his third home run and Alex Rios going 2 for 2 to snap an 0 for 11 drought.

Maybe the walk-up songs were the key.

Among the more notables:

Alex Rios: “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred.

Prince Fielder: “Soul Glo” from the movie Coming to America.

Adrian Beltre: “Macho Man” by the Village People.

Shin-Soo Choo: “Gangnam Style” by Psy.

Leonys Martin: “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You” by Gloria Estefan.
