Monday’s Rangers-A’s lineups: Robinson Chirinos again paired with Yu Darvish

The battery mates made a midgame adjustment Wednesday and saw favorable results against Seattle.

Catcher Robinson Chirinos gets his second straight start with Yu Darvish on the mound. Seattle scored twice in seven innings Wednesday against the Darvish-Chirinos battery, and Darvish acknowledged afterward that there were some communication issues the first few innings before they got on the same pitch about pitch selection early in counts.

Chirinos has outperformed J.P. Arencibia so far this season in all aspects of the game. The Rangers have a 2.33 ERA with Chirinos, and a 5.86 when Arencibia is behind the plate. Offensively, Chirinos is hitting .235, which isn’t great but is far better than the .067 average Arencibia is carrying.
