Russell Wilson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Rangers-Phillies game on Wednesday. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback joined the organization as a Rule 5 draft pick in December.
Wilson then went on to become a Super Bowl champion, leading the Seahawks to a victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Wilson spent a day at spring training last month, going through morning workouts and watching the game from the dugout on March 3. He also served as a motivational speaker to the team’s minor leaguers.
Wilson, 25, spent two seasons in the Colorado Rockies’ organization in 2010-11, batting .229 with five home runs and 26 RBIs before pursuing football full time.
