BALTIMORE — Mitch Moreland hit two of the Texas Rangers’ four homers Monday, and Shin-Soo Choo hit a homer among his three hits in an 8-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Moreland homered in the second, though initially his liner off the top of the right-field wall was called a single, and again in the fourth after Adrian Beltre had singled to start the inning.
Carlos Corporan homered in the third, and Choo connected in the fifth. Joey Gallo had his first career triple with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh to break the game open.
Wandy Rodriguez allowed 10 base runners, but only one of them scored in five-plus innings.
Pitching: Wandy Rodriguez was perfect in the first inning, and the rest of his night was somewhat of an adventure. He allowed eight hits and two walks in five-plus innings, and needed 101 pitches to get 15 outs. But only one run scored. … He did his best pitching in the fifth with one out and the bases loaded after Adam Jones had singled in the first Orioles run. Rodriguez struck out Chris Davis, and Choo made a nice catch on a Delmon Young flyball to right-center field. … Spencer Patton, Keone Kela, Tanner Scheppers and Sam Freeman combined to allow only one hit and a walk over four scoreless innings.
Hitting: Mitch Moreland homered twice as the Rangers went deep a season-high-tying four times.
