Rangers outfielder Mitch Moreland woke up with a locked up left elbow again and was out of the lineup against the Mariners Tuesday night.
It’s the same injury he had 10 days ago.
He’s been able to grind through it but Tuesday’s setback may require Moreland to have a procedure to clean out the loose bone chip.
“I tried to fight through it this first time,” Moreland said. “It’s locked up again so I don’t know if there’s something we can do, move it around, get it dislodged or find a better spot. I don’t know what the deal is until I see the doctor.”
Moreland was seeing team physician Dr. Keith Meister Tuesday afternoon.
Manager Jeff Banister said Moreland was in his original lineup. Instead, Adam Rosales will play first base and bat seventh.
“It’s been one of those things for Mitch each day to see how it feels,” Banister said. “We knew that was probably going to be the process. Best thing I can do is trust the doctors and the information.”
The injury was causing Moreland significant pain.
“Right now it’s pretty painful all the time,” said Moreland, who can’t fully extend his left arm. “It just hurts.”
