Texas Rangers broadcaster Steve Busby will not return in 2017, the club confirmed.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Dave Raymond, who joined the Fox Sports Southwest broadcast team in 2016, is expected to become the primary television play-by-play voice next season. Busby’s contract expired and he wasn’t given any options, he told The Morning News.
Busby, 67, who has been the club’s primary play-by-play TV announcer the past four seasons, first worked as the Rangers’ television analyst in 1982 and worked on the TV and radio teams off and on for the past 34 years. His pitching career ended in 1980 after eight seasons with the Kansas Royals.
