Is there any wonder why fans love Mike Napoli? The 34-year-old major league veteran is the consummate gamer who wins wherever he goes.
He’s played with four different clubs, including two stints with the Rangers and helped lead those teams into the postseason eight times in 11 seasons.
He’s on the verge of reaching the World Series with his third different club in the past six seasons. His current club, the Cleveland Indians, lead the Blue Jays 3-0 in the ALCS.
After six years in the minors in the Angels organization, Napoli finally reached the majors in 2006. His Angels reached the playoffs in three of his five seasons before he joined the Rangers in 2011, in time for their second consecutive World Series appearance.
He left the Rangers for the Red Sox in 2013 and helped Boston win the World Series that season. He rejoined the Rangers in August 2015 and bolstered an inconsistent offense with power and helped solidify an already strong clubhouse atmosphere.
Remember those red, white and blue workouts shorts the club sold for charity? All Napoli.
The Rangers didn’t have an every day spot for him in 2015 so he signed with the Indians. And now Cleveland is a win away from the World Series.
You gotta love Napoli.
