Leonys Martin is becoming more Americanized every day. The Cuban defector has daily conversations in English and is in touch with today’s pop culture.
Martin, 26, credits teammates such as Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz for helping him adjust to the American lifestyle, as well as his wife, Yaimira.
“She speaks very good English and helps me practice every single day,” Martin said. “As she tells me, ‘you can’t feel shy when you speak it.’ ”
Martin went through his favorite American music, movie and TV shows as he enters his fourth season with the Rangers’ organization.
