Rangers roster moves, injury update

The Rangers send seven players to minors, leaving big league club with 53 left in spring training camp.

The Rangers optioned right-handed pitchers Wilmer Font and Ben Rowan to Round Rock and right-handed pitcher Lisalverto Bonilla and infielder Luis Sardinas were optioned to Frisco Wednesday morning.

Pitchers Nate Adcock and Armondo Rodriguez and infielder Rougned Odor were reassigned to minor league camp. The moves leave the Rangers with 53 players in major league camp. The club has to get down to 25 before the season opener.

Adock will soon have thoracic outlet syndrome surgery after being evaluated by Dr. Gregory Pearl in Dallas. Here’s the rest of the Rangers latest injury news:

OF Shin-Soo Choo (sore elbow): In Wednesday’s lineup after resting Tuesday.

RHP Matt Harrison (lower back stiffness): Felt good after throwing his first inning in a ‘B’ game Tuesday.

RHP Miles Mikolas (elbow): Cleared after throwing batting practice Tuesday.

RHP Shawn Tolleson (shoulder): Cleared after throwing batting practice Tuesday.

INF Kensuke Tanaka (fractured teeth) – Availale to play,

OF Alex Rios (strained right intercostal): Progressing all baseball activities, close to being cleared.

C Geovany Soto (foot surgery): Catching live batting practice, next step would be to catch in game.
