Harrison, Scheppers scratched from throwing drills

The Rangers continue to implement an extreme case of caution when it comes to their pitchers.

Starter Matt Harrison didn’t throw as expected Tuesday after he woke up with a stiff neck, and Tanner Scheppers didn’t take the mound because of back spasms.

Harrison said he wanted to throw, but the team isn’t willing to take chances this early in camp with a pitcher who had three surgeries last season.

Scheppers, meanwhile, is listed as a rotation candidate a year after emerging as a dependable setup reliever.
