Keller 12, Plano East 3
The Indians rallied for a 2-0 deficit and got six RBIs from Camryn Woodall to win at Plano East in Game 1 of the Class 6A Region I semifinals on Thursday night. Game 2 is 5 p.m. Friday at Argyle with Game 3 to follow if needed.
Plano East scored twice in the bottom of the first inning. Avery Barkly had an RBI triple and scored on a single to left.
Keller scored five times in the third. Hanna Jones started the rally with a two-run double and Woodall’s two-run single gave the Indians a 5-2 lead, all with no outs. Woodall added a two-out two-run single in the fourth to make it 7-2.

Plano East scored in the bottom of the fourth to get within 7-3, but Keller got three-straight RBIs in the sixth all with two outs from Caraline Woodall, Camryn Woodall and a two-run home run from Kasey Simpson.
Mansfield Lake Ridge 1, Forney 0
In a heart-warming night between teams that came together, Kylah Marzette’s blooper to left in the sixth inning was enough for the Eagles to take the lead in the 5A Region II semifinals at Kennedale High School. Game 2 is 6 p.m. Friday at Rockwall.
The teams postponed Wednesday’s game due to the tragic death of Forney’s Emily Galiano. On Thursday, both teams honored her life with shirts and roses before the game. Read more here.
Canyon 3, Birdville 0
Each team only got two hits, but it was the Eagles that came out on top over the Hawks in the 5A Region I semifinals at Hermleigh High School. Game 2 is 6 p.m. Friday.
Scoreless through four innings, Canyon got a runner on in the fifth inning after a Birdville error with two outs. The Eagles scored on another error to take a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the seventh, the Eagles got on with two walks and both runners scored on another Birdville error. The Hawks had the bases loaded in the bottom half, but Canyon’s Kyra Lair ended the game with back-to-back strikeouts.
The Colony 14, Mansfield Legacy 0
Karlie Charles threw a three-hit shutout and the Cougars produced 22 hits to take the lead in the 5A Region II semifinals at Colleyville Heritage High School. Game 2 is 7 p.m. Friday at Heritage.
Jayda Coleman went 4 of 5 with an RBI and three runs scored and Madison Hirsch and Haley Ramsey combined for seven hits and seven RBIs. The Colony scored twice in the first inning, twice in the fourth, three in the sixth and six in the seventh. Jaycee Hamlin drove in two runs and Mackenzye Gregory went 4 of 5 with four runs scored.
All proceeds from the concession as well for Game 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be donated to Emily Galiano’s family.
