Southlake Carroll won its third consecutive UIL Lone Star Cup on Tuesday after the final standings for the 2013-14 school year were announced.
The Dragons were joined in the 5A top 10 by Arlington Martin, which tied for ninth. Aledo finished tied for third in Class 4A, followed by Trophy Club Nelson in fifth. Kennedale finished third in Class 3A, followed by Stephenville in fifth.
The Lone Star Cup is awarded to one school in each UIL classification based on overall achievement in athletic, academic and music competitions.
The Dragons won their fifth overall cup by a wide margin, tallying 115 points. The Woodlands finished second with 78.
Carroll won team championships in boys and girls cross country and boys swimming and diving. The volleyball team advanced to the state semifinals, and the academic team placed fourth at state.
Aledo finished seven points behind first-place Friendswood, tallying 82 points after winning state titles in football, softball and baseball. Nelson, which won state in boys soccer, finished with 78 points.
Kennedale, which sent its boys basketball team to the state semifinals, finished third in 3A with 78 points. Argyle comfortably won that classification with 102 points.
For team sports, schools are awarded two points for each playoff advancement and four points for a district championship. Individual sports receive point totals based on team finishes at the state meet, starting with 10 points for first overall.
