Flower Mound had 11 hits, including four for extra bases, and pitchers Seth Jordan and B.J. Myers combined for a one-hitter as the Jaguars routed San Antonio Reagan 10-0 Saturday in the UIL Class 5A championship at Dell Diamond.
The Jaguars (34-12) ended the game with no outs in the bottom of the fifth inning when senior catcher Mitch Andrews tripled down the right-field line and scored on an error.
Reagan (34-7) fell behind 3-0 in the first inning and 7-0 after two.
Jaguars leadoff hitter Connor Wanhanen went 2 for 3 with a walk and three runs scored. In addition to the last run, Andrews had three hits and two RBIs.
Flower Mound starting pitcher Jordan (7-4) allowed the lone Reagan single in the second inning.
Myers relieved Jordan with two outs in the fifth inning.
“It was hard to take him out, but B.J. Myers deserved to be on that mound, too,” Jaguars coach Danny Wallace said.
The championship was Flower Mound’s first in three trips to the state tournament, although the team has qualified for the playoffs every year since the school opened in 2000.
“It’s great for our community and we’re just so excited to have it for them and bring it home,” Wallace said.
