Keller Fossil Ridge used a pair of 9-0 runs to edge Justin Northwest 65-64 Friday night at the Fossil Ridge gym.
The win allowed the Panthers to keep pace with rival Keller in the District 4-5A race.
With Keller’s win Friday night, both ended the first round of district play at 6-1 and tied for first place. The loss dropped the Texans a game off the pace at 5-2.
Chris Kouakou led the Panthers with 16 points, including a pair of game-clinching free throws. Bryce Jackson and Cameron Montgomery each scored 12 points, with Niron Fields adding 10 off the bench.
Northwest’s Taylor Johnson led all scorers with 23. Josh Tatum added 17, including 13 in the fourth period.
Fossil Ridge upped its record to 15-6, 6-1 in district play. Northwest falls to 18-5 and 5-2.
