Buckshots: Memo to Tom Hicks: Your fans are ticked

Star-Telegram Staff Writer

FIRST SHOT: How many Rangers games will I pay to see this season? None.

I ceased being a season-ticket holder and going to the ballpark about 10 years ago -- out of disgust for MLB.

I still have the ticket stub from the Rangers' first Opening Day way back in 1972 when I was a kid. I've always loved the game of baseball.

See you Opening Day, May 8... at LaGrave Field.

-- Kevin Hunter, North Richland Hills

BUCKSHOT: Cat Scratch Fever -- catch it!

SECOND SHOT: Unfortunately, I'll be taking the family to no Rangers games. Multiple reasons:

(1) We're lifelong Cubs fans who are now Rangers fans. But we've moved from Irving to Little Elm, so we're closer to Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. As avid "baseball" fans, we've traded our Rangers' mini-plan in for a similar plan with the Riders.

(2) Tom Hicks continues to price the Rangers way out of our budget -- especially with the rising cost of gas and the added miles.

(3) The Cubs aren't coming to Arlington this year.

-- John Nevener, Little Elm

BUCKSHOT: Hicks always ends up in the middle of these things.

THIRD SHOT: None, nada ... I will not pay U.S. dollars to watch AAA disguised as a major league team.

-- Mike Murphy, Abilene

BUCKSHOT: Hmm. I think Hicks takes euros.

FOURTH SHOT: I will not pay to see the Rangers as long as Tom Hicks owns the team. I'm a huge Rangers fan, but I cannot justify lining the pockets of someone who holds his customers in such contempt.

When you don't even try to field a winner ... you've lost me and thousands of others.

-- J. Richard Wright, Mesquite

BUCKSHOT: Is there is an echo in here?

FIFTH SHOT: Why pay to see the Rangers games when ticket holders can't give their tickets away?

-- Jerry Sklar, Grapevine

BUCKSHOT: You raise a rhetorical question.

SIXTH SHOT: I'll attend Opening Day and maybe 2-3 more games. Because I live in Tucson, Ariz., and it's not exactly a short drive to the Temple in Arlington.

-- Mike Pockrus, Tucson

BUCKSHOT: You big weenie.

SEVENTH SHOT: Can we send Tom Hicks to Liverpool permanently? Maybe some hooligan can set him straight.

-- David Glick, Las Colinas

BUCKSHOT: Hooligans 1, Hicks 0. And other scores ...

LAST SHOT: I can't believe I'm about to say this, but the Kobe Bryant trade would've been a Mavs masterstroke compared to the Jason Kidd fiasco.

Because of what can only be called a demoralized or inconsistent team ... [the blame] will ultimately fall on Avery. But I'd rather fire Mark Cuban.

-- Malone Hardcastle, Bath, Maine

BUCKSHOT: I know you know ... who's going to do that?
