What Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips had to say after the Cowboys’ 38-18 win over the Seattle Seahawks, plus what he could have said:

On the victory:

What Wade said: “We’re going to celebrate this one.”

What Wade could have said: “The guys liked ‘Victory Monday’ so much last week that I’m thinking about having ‘Victory Monday’ and ‘Victory Tuesday’ this week.”

On Tony Romo and Roy Williams:

What Wade said: “I still see Roy and Tony not on the same page. They’re getting closer.”

What Wade could have said: “At least now they’re in the same book.”

On why Romo and Williams are not “on the same page:”

What Wade said: “Because some of the routes you can run depends on what they’re doing as to what the receiver does. And it depends on what the quarterback sees the receiver do as to what we do.”

What Wade could have said: “With all that doing and does-ing going on, you can understand why they might be a little confused.”

On Romo’s play:

What Wade said: “Tony spread the ball around to a lot of different guys, and we saw what they can do.”

What Wade could have said: “I know fantasy owners hate that, but we like it.”

On Patrick Crayton’s special teams contributions and then on Miles Austin scoring another touchdown:

What Wade said: “Patrick Crayton had another big punt return for a touchdown. You have to be pleased with that.”

What Wade said a little later: “If you score a touchdown [as Austin did], it’s pretty good.”

What Wade could have said: “Knowing those things is why I’m an NFL head coach and you’re just in the media.”

On Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck returning to the game after taking a hard hit:

What Wade said: “My hat’s off to him. He’s a real pro.”

What Wade could have said: “Actually, I don’t wear a hat during games.”

Discussing key individual plays on defense:

What Wade said: “And Bobby Carpenter made a nice play on his (sack) and knocked the ball out.”

What Wade could have said: “When Bobby’s making nice plays, you know your defense is having a great game.”
