The two best college baseball teams in the Lone Star State will square off starting Friday night in a best-of-three series. The Aggies are seeking a second College World Series appearance in six seasons and third since 1999.
A&M coach Rob Childress took over for school legend Mark Johnson and has guided the Aggies to five super regionals. He experienced the ultimate disappointment a year ago when TCU prevailed in an epic, 16-inning battle to advance to Omaha, Neb.
The big difference this time around is the Aggies will have home-field advantage. A&M (48-14 overall) is 32-5 at Olsen Field this season.
On Tuesday, Aggies coach Rob Childress discussed last year’s super-regional loss:
TCU (45-15) will certainly have its work cut out going on the road. The Horned Frogs swept the regionals at Lupton Stadium in convincing fashion.
It’s road to a second consecutive College World Series berth will now have to be earned the hard way.
