Two Longhorns suspended for sexual assault

Two Texas receivers charged with felony sexual assault received indefinite suspensions Thursday from Longhorns’ football coach Charlie Strong. The two players, Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander, received second-degree felony charges for forcing themselves on a female victim. Sanders also faces a charge of improper photography, based on an investigation by campus police.

In a statement, Strong said both players “have been suspended indefinitely from our football team and will no longer participate in any team functions” after breaking one of the program’s core values: treat women with respect. Sanders ranked their among Texas players in receiving yards last season (361 yards, one TD) despite missing the season opener following a DUI charge. Meander, a redshirt freshmen, did not play in any games last season.
