Denton Guyer junior quarterback Shawn Robinson, a consensus 5-star recruit for the class of 2017, committed to TCU on Friday, according to Guyer coach John Walsh.
Robinson is ranked the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the nation for 2017 according to 247Sports.com.
As a sophomore, Robinson threw for 2,795 yards and 33 touchdowns and led Guyer in rushing yards with 1,423 and 15 touchdowns.
Robinson transferred from Saginaw Chisholm Trail in 2014 after his mom took the head girls basketball coaching job for the Wildcats.
In his freshman year at Chisholm Trail, Robinson threw for 1,123 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 624 yards and six touchdowns.
Robinson is the third TCU commitment for 2017, following Bremond athlete Roshauud Paul and Aledo offensive lineman Wes Harris.
Behind senior Trevone Boykin, TCU has three eligible quarterbacks heading into fall camp: senior Bram Kohlhausen and redshirt freshmen Foster Sawyer and Grayson Muehlstein.
Texas A&M transfer and former Southlake Carroll quarterback Kenny Hill will join the active roster for the 2016-17 season after sitting a year, per NCAA transfer rules. He will have two years of eligibility.
