Former Texas running back Johnathan Gray, a standout high school player at Aledo, had successful surgery Thursday to repair a torn left Achilles that clouds his NFL future.
Gray, who completed his college career last season, sustained the injury Monday while practicing at the College Gridiron Showcase & Symposium in Bedford.
Gray, who finished last season with 489 rushing yards (4.0 per carry) and three touchdowns, also tore his Achilles in 2013. He missed the final four games of that season but played all 13 games in 2014. Gray missed the final two games last season because of a turf toe injury.
