The Big 12 resumes its football championship game this season and one preseason publication envisions something other than a matchup of two Oklahoma schools in Arlington for all the marbles in December.
One oddsmaker projected Wednesday that the Texas Longhorns should lead college teams from the Lone Star State in victories this season despite recent struggles under former coach Charlie Strong. But the list did not include all Texas-based schools and the Longhorns’ projected win total (7.5) was far from eye-popping.
The Longhorns will make their debut Sept. 2 under first-year coach Tom Herman with an 11 a.m. kickoff on Sept. 2 against Maryland. The team’s Sept. 16 game at Southern California is set for a prime-time telecast (Texas time) on Fox.
