Omar Salinas singled in the winning run in the 10th inning Monday as UT Arlington edged Stephen F. Austin 10-9 to clinch the two-game baseball series at Clay Gould Ballpark.
Salinas, a senior from Arlington High, drove in RJ Williams with a one-out hit into center field.
The Mavericks (3-2) erased a 3-1 deficit with a four-run sixth inning. Williams sparked the rally with a two-run single.
UTA led 9-5 entering the ninth inning, but couldn't complete the save as SFA (0-7) scored four runs to force extra innings.
The Mavericks collected 15 hits, including three by Noah Vaughan who smacked a home run and a triple. Vaughan, Williams and Salinas each drove in two runs.
Senior right-hander Trae Patterson started for UTA and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and no walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Weather permitting, UTA returns to action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. when it hosts No. 6 TCU at Clay Gould Ballpark.
