UT Arlington scored five runs in the first inning on went to beat Western Kentucky 8-5 in Sun Belt Conference baseball on Saturday.
The victory clinched the sixth of the past seven conference series for the Mavericks (26-25, 15-11).
UTA has won 10 of its past 12 games. The Hilltoppers fall to 27-24 and 13-13.
UTA jumped on Western Kentucky quickly, scoring five runs in the first inning.
Derek Miller walked and Ryan Bottger doubled. An error brought in a run, JM Twitchell hit an RBI double, Levin Scott a run-scoring single, Darien McLemore hit a sacrifice fly and Eric Tate an RBI double.
Twichell hit a solo home run in the third inning. It was his seventh home run of the season.
In the fifth, Miller singled and Bottger launched a two-run home run.
