Former Southlake Carroll coach Todd Dodge takes Austin Westlake job

He led the Dragons to four Class 5A state titles before moving to North Texas.

Former Southlake Carroll and North Texas football coach Todd Dodge has been named the coach at Austin Westlake, the Eanes school district announced Friday.

Dodge coached at Carroll from 2000-06, leading the Dragons to four Class 5A state titles. He was named the USA Today national coach of the year in 2004 as the Dragons finished atop various national rankings.

They repeated in 2005, becoming only the sixth team to repeat as mythical national champions.

Dodge left Carroll and its 48-game winning streak in 2006 for North Texas, where he was 6-37 before being fired seven games into the 2010 season.

Most recently, he had been the coach at Marble Falls.

Dodge will also serve as the Eanes school district athletic director. Dodge had also coached at Keller Fossil Ridge.

Dodge replaces Darren Allman, who accepted the Colleyville Heritage job last week.
